Lunch

We ask you to provide a healthy packed lunch, ideas are available. You do not need to provide a drink as fresh, cold water is provided for all the children. We also have a supply of fresh fruit should your child require a snack. You must all small fruit such as whole grapes and cherry tomatoes are cut into quarters, as it is a choking hazard for small children. We ask you not to provide anything containing nuts as, although children are not allowed to share their lunches, there may be some children attending with severe allergies. All packaging and any leftovers will be returned to your child’s lunch box so that you can see what they have eaten.

During lunchtime the children will be expected to sit at a table, talk to their friends and finish their meal politely. The staff will help with opening packages and encouraging your child to finish what you have provided for lunch. It will be a social time when children can learn to function independently at a mealtime. After lunch activities will be provided. These will include using the computers, games and simple art activities. They will also access the nursery garden during their time in Honeybees. There will also be a quiet area should your child be “running out of steam”.

The children will have access to activities including:

Dance, music, resource modelling, sand and water play, play dough, cooking, exploring our environment (eg. Senses garden, nature trails) and sensory activities (eg. nice ice surprise!)
